About this event

London Councils, the collective of all London local authorities, has commissioned Mime to carry out research into the inclusion of young people with SEND. The aim of the research is to improve understanding of inclusion and inclusive practice in schools, including the specific drivers and groups of SEND pupils that are affected the most, and to identify ways to address non-inclusive practice.

In this group, we will look at the experiences of parents and carers of young children with SEND who have had a period of education other than at school or are currently not attending school.

We hope to ensure that the voices of key stakeholders are represented in this research, including holding focus groups with parents and carers of young people with SEND. These focus group discussions will cover:
• What do you consider to be “inclusive practice” and what are its benefits?
• Have you experienced non-inclusive practice, what are some examples, and what was the impact on you and your family?
